Geographic information is the most important decision-making tool in different activities on earth.<br />The knowledge of mapping (surveying, remote sensing, and geographic engineering) has benefited from the blessings of the glorious Islamic Revolution more than any other science. The dramatic changes and advances that have been made in earth sciences in recent years have been influenced by the need for quick and accurate access to better understanding of the land and potentials of the country in the field of defense and developmental construction.   امروزه در علوم کاربردی و فعالیت ­های مختلفی که بر روی زمین انجام  می ­گیرد، کمتر اقداماتی است بی نیاز از شناخت محیط، موقعیت جغرافیایی، شرایط طبیعی و توان و استعدادهای آن باشد. اطلاعات جغرافیایی مهمترین ابزار تصمیم­ گیری فعالیت­ های مختلف روی زمین است.<br /> دانش تهیه نقشه (مهندسی نقشه­ برداری، دور سنجی و علوم  جغرافیایی بیش از هر علمی از برکات انقلاب شکوهمند اسلامی بهره ­مند شده است. تحولات چشمگیر و پیشرفت­هایی که در سال­های اخیر در علوم زمین به وجود آمده متأثر از نیاز جدی دستیابی سریع و دقیق به شناخت هرچه بهتر سرزمین و توان و امکانات کشور در عرصه ­های دفاع و سازندگی می­ باشد. https://www.sepehr.org/article_28528_7ba77854a96f6a3182fc526ae3018403.pdf
