چکیده

تصویربرداری­ های اخیر لندست از کویت حاکی از پیشی گرفتن تیم­ های اطفاء حریق از برنامه پیش­ بینی شده­ اند. در ابتدای عملیات اطفاء حریق چاه­ های نفت، متخصصان آتش­ سوزی­ های نفتی، زمان لازم برای کنترل کامل آتش­ سوزی چاه ها را پنج سال به تخمین زده بودند. براساس تصویربرداری اخیر لندست یک سوم از چاه­ های به آتش کشیده شده خاموش یا تحت کنترل درآمده ­اند؛ این مطلب از سوی وزیر نفت کویت نیز تصدیق گردید.

Landsat's recent images from Kuwait suggest that firefighting teams are ahead of the determined schedule. At the beginning of firefighting operations on burning oil-wells, oil-fire experts estimated the time needed for full control of wells’ fire to be five years. According to recent Landsat imaging, one third of the burning wells are now either extinguished or under control, the fact which was confirmed by the Kuwaiti Oil Minister.
