چکیده

دوران نقشه‏ هایى که بصورت قطعات کاغذى و برگ برگ تهیه مى‏ شدند، کم ‏کم روبه اتمام است و اینگونه نقشه‏ ها جاى خود را به پایگاه هاى اطلاعاتى یکپارچه‏ اى مى‏ دهند که کارتوگراف ها را قادر به ذخیره و بهنگام نمودن داده‏ ها مى‏ کند.
نتیجه این تغییر و تحول، دسترسى به نقشه‏ هایى ارزان‏ تر و بروزتر، چه بصورت کاغذى و چه به شکل رقومى خواهد بود.
از زمان آغاز عصر جدید، هنر نیز همانند علم در تهیه نقشه‏ ها بسیار مورد توجه بوده است.
بطور قطع، نقشه‏ ها عوارض کشف شده سطح زمین را با دقت و بطور تمام و کمال ثبت مى‏ کنند. اما حفظ زیبایى نقشه و همچنین ثبت ذخایر فرهنگى فراموش نمى‏ شود زیرا در اغلب روشهاى تهیه نقشه، تفکرات هر جامعه دخیل مى ‏باشد.
این واقعیت باقى است، اما درست همانگونه که هر جامعه‏ اى دچار تغییر و تحول مى‏ شود، کارتوگرافى نیز درحال دگرگونى مى‏ باشد. ما در میانه راه انقلاب در روشهاى تهیه نقشه قرار داریم.

چکیده [English]

The era of paper maps is gradually coming to an end, and these maps are replaced by integrated databases that enable cartographs to store and update data.
The result of this transformation will be the availability of less expensive and more up-to-date maps, both in paper and in digital form.
Since the beginning of the new era, art, like science, has received considerable attention in production of maps.
Obviously, maps record the discovered features of the surface of the earth accurately and comprehensively. However, preservation of the beauty of the map as well as recording of cultural heritage are not forgotten, because the thoughts of each community are involved in most methods of mapping.
This fact still holds; but just as any society is undergoing change, cartography is also experiencing transformation. We are in the middle of a revolution in map production methods.
